Aromatic components play a crucial role in the final characterization of Vermouth; the basic ingredient is mugwort. Over twenty spices are used, the methods and quantities of which often remain a secret to the producer. These include sage, coriander, nutmeg, gentian, cinchona, cinnamon, cardamom, and many others.
